“Bridging the Past into the Future”

Leadership Morgan Hill (LMH) is a non-profit that was established in 1995, proudly celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Its mission is to inspire leadership for a better Morgan Hill. Each year, a new class is formed, whose common goal is to give back to Morgan Hill. The class decides on a community project, then executes and completes this project by September 2025.

The LMH Class of 2025 is embarking on a project that ties Morgan Hill’s past into our future. We are excited to be involved with the Morgan Hill Historical Society (MHHS) and the Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center (WERC). In partnership with these organizations, we will accomplish the following class projects within our allotted timeframe of September 2025:

1) Establish a native garden at the Villa Mira Monte, which preserves some of Amah Mutsun’s heritage. In collaboration with Roger Knopf and Kathy Devine of MHHS, the indigenous plants will be representative of what were used for food, fiber, medicine, clothing, weaponry, pageantry, etc. The plants will also be carefully selected based on surviving its microclimate.

2) Recreate and reinstall WERC’s favorite animal-ambassador, “Loki” owl bronze sculpture, at the Centennial Recreation Center (CRC). With the help of artist, Evelyn Davis, and foundry, Bronze Works, we will bring back “Loki” as a reminder of the impact that WERC has on our community, who provide critical care, rehabilitation, and education for the local wildlife.
